I think I'm a bit paranoid now.
Tie down straps, tied with a water-knot, attached to the block & tackle with a locking carabiner.
My "Old" Hitachi. Unlike my previous and current Hitachi, it has an odd "bridge" that creates a cone shaped case under the fan.

The camera is out of alignment. But here you can see my "washer" mod of the Hitachi pulley quite well. You can also see the mess the belt left on my frame rail as it expired.

I wonder if I installed it wrong and it kinked as it corrected itself into the pulleys... or it was just defective from the start?
